| Wicked Web Videos There’s a lot of talk about web videos, and so this week, I’d like to talk to you about ways of getting an awesome amount of hits on your site. If your budget is low to zero, but you want to create some bespoke and personal to you, then why not think about a great little sketch or corporate style message that can be filmed very easily perhaps using your camera phone. If you have an iPhone 4, then the images are pretty close to a DSLR – with crisp HD quality and it comes with some editing facilities that are easy to use. Then pick up the embed script and embed your web video onto your website, and voila – you’ve got web video just like everyone else. How to make a web video on an iphone 1 – you’ll still need pre-production for web videos. Its boring but necessary. Think about what your web video story is and how you could tell it in 30 seconds or under. Think about the set up area – where will your web video be filmed, who’s filming and who’s starring in it. Is there a need for script? If so, write down what you want to be said and say it outloud –can it be read out. Does it sound natural? Time it – how long does it take to say? Is it too wordy? People prefer a few words to tons of them. Don’t forget – you can use your laptop as a teleprompter. 2 – Practise – test out your project. Take a few web video reruns and try out a few filming styles. Have a look on youtube or other fileshare sites that have examples of great web videos. Get some web video ideas. What are your competitors doing with their web videos? Can you do it better? 3 – Shoot it. Keep the web video close to your plan, watch it back. Edit your lovely web video on your iphone (or similar). Upload it to youtube. Get the web video embed code 4 – past the web video embed code into your website. 5 – analyse your web video traffic using the youtube analytics.
