| Ronald William "Ron" Howard is an American movie director and producer, as well as an actor. Howard first came to prominence as an actor starring in the movies of 1960s and 1970s. Having retired from acting, he has directed a great many movies, including the bestseller The Da Vinci Code, and its loud sequel, Angels & Demons. The film is based on the novel written by Dan Brown, the author of The Da Vinci Code which made the humanity split into two groups - those who are for it and those who are against it, including the Roman Catholic Church. Although The Da Vinci Code was prohibited in many countries, a considerable number of people around the world have viewed the movie. The movie Angels & Demons uses the idea of a historical conflict between the Catholic Church and science depicted in The Da Vinci Code. The plot of the film Angels & Demons concentrates upon the quest of Harvard University iconologist Robert Langdon to unveil the mysteries of a secret society known as the Illuminati. The Catholic Church, in particular the Vatican, faces a great threat when the principal four cardinals to supersede the deceased Pope are abducted by members of the Illuminati dedicated to scientific truth. The Church is told that each cardinal will be murdered one per hour starting at 8 pm, culminating with an explosion of an antimatter bomb underneath St Peter's Cathedral at midnight wiping out the Vatican. To face down the nasty menace, the Church calls upon the services of religious iconologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who is knowledgeable about the mysterious society. He has to start the investigation promptly, racing against time to find the kidnapped cardinals by decoding symbols. Robert Langton accompanied by physicist Vittoria tries to unveil the death of the Pontiff. The images of Rome in the movie are splendid and picturesque. The watcher has an opportunity to walk along the streets of Rome and see the most prominent historical and cultural places of interest together with the movie characters. The film does well to engross interest through its explanations of historical events and the inside organisation of the Vatican. The plot keeps the watcher involved and interested until the very end of the film. The plot unfolds with extraordinary twists and turns that leave the watcher excited. |
