| Canada is full of picturesque and diverse landscape, a vibrant people and culture. Over the past 10 years it has witnessed a quick change and a tremendous growth in interest both from tourists and property investors, mostly as the country changed its policy to market-oriented. Like most countries, Canada offers a wide selection of options when it comes to selecting a place to call "home". The choice you make will depend on a few factors, including your budget, how much space you wish to have and what kind of location you wish to. Below are some of the options for you to consider: - A room for rent. Some owners of houses or apartments may rent out separate rooms in those dwellings. All of the tenants share the bathroom(s) and the kitchen. - A studio apartment. These apartments are small-sized and were primarily designed for only one person. Most have a single large-sized room – that consists of a kitchen and a bedroom – and a separate bathroom. - An apartment. Apartments range in size from one to three bedrooms. They also have separate kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms. - A duplex. A duplex is a single house split into two separate living areas, each area being fully separate from the other. Yet, the residents may have a shared yard or driveway. - A townhouse. Townhouses are small houses which are built in rows, so that they form a chain. Usually, they look similar. - A house. Houses of all shapes and sizes are available in Canada. You may have a home built specifically to your specifications on a lot. - A condominium. Condos are basically apartments or townhouses that are owned, not rented. Owners are responsible for all of the internal care and maintenance on the property and must pay property taxes. They also pay a condo association fee that covers the costs of outdoor upkeep. Besides these types of accommodation, there is another important choice you need to make: furnished or unfurnished. Furnished homes and apartments mean that all of the necessary furnishings - such as beds and chairs - are included. Furnished apartments and homes may be a good option when you are first moving to Canada, especially if you are immigraing from a remote place, because the cost of transporting your own couches and beds could be rather costly. However, most people choose to live in an unfurnished dwelling, so that they can decorate in a manner they see fit. Some unfurnished living accommodations will still have kitchen appliances, such as fridges and stoves. Also, keep in mind that housing costs can vary considerably, even within the same province. By doing some research and focusing on areas outside of major cities, you can save cash on housing. |
